Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Circle Jerks Make the House of Blues RED HOT Before we get started about the music on this record, let's first talk about Keith Morris. If you've never had the opportunity (or pleasure) to see this man perform live, you really need to do something about that. I saw him front FLAG in 2013 when they were on tour, it his stage presence is seriously life-changing. How he's been able to perform at that level since the late '70s is beyond me, because he absolutely give it everything he has. Now that we've gotten that out of the way, let's talk about the Circle Jerks. For those of you unfamiliar with this band, they are Keith's second band (he was one of the two founding members of Black Flag), and they've been active since 1979. They had a few breaks along the road before going on indefinite hiatus in 2010, leaving six studio albums, six singles, and three live albums (this one included) in their wake. As a fan of Morris in general, I've listened to the band's studio albums, and they just don't hold a candle to what they do on stage. They're good, but I would rather listen to the Jerks live. Coming to a total of 28 songs, this live double-album opens up the floodgates in terms of the Circle Jerks' catalogue as well as a few covers ("Fortunate Son," "Red Tape," and "Nervous Breakdown"). In typical hardcore punk fashion, the majority of these songs are less than two minutes; the tracks that are longer typically consist of Keith's banter with the crowd. With the exception of the release of their last single, "I'm Gonna Live," which was released in 2007, this concert is the band's most recent recording to date. And every single track is on fire. Seriously, get this album today!
