- "As soon as I saw the prompt for the design, I wanted to make sure I represented each duo or trio from each Laika movie. I wanted to include characters from the Laika films that I love but never get any attention, but I still wanted to make sure to only focus on main protagonists. The visual development team at Laika is a huge inspiration to me, and I?m a huge fan of miniatures as well, so I wanted to take extra care to capture every costume detail possible while still adding a couple extra details you may only recognize if you?ve seen the films. The composition was inspired by a Laika fan art idea that I sketched in my sketchbook years ago, and before The Missing Link was released. So when I found out about this contest, I knew I wanted to bring back that composition idea that I roughly sketched back then. This was the perfect excuse to execute that idea I had years ago, and draw all my favorite Laika characters that I?ve been wanting to explore for a while now."
